◉ Physis. Answer: cartilaginous area between the epiphysis and
metaphysis responsible for longitudinal growth of bones.


◉ Diaphysis. Answer: shaft of long bone (compact bone)


◉ Epiphysis. Answer: End of a long bone. After growth stops, it
becomes part of the metaphysis


◉ What is the physis also Known as?. Answer: Growth Plate


◉ metaphysis. Answer: growth zone between the epiphysis and the
diaphysis during development of a long bone. Composed of primary
and secondary spongiosa.


◉ Primary spongiosa. Answer: The region of the ossification center
containing calcified cartilage, woven bone and lamellar bone

,◉ Secondary spongiosa. Answer: Part of the ossification center
consisting of spicules of lamellar bone


◉ Bursae. Answer: fluid-filled sac that allows for easy movement of
