1. Reflect on the relationship between the corporate strategic thrust selected during the
simulation and the business decisions made by your company by doing the following:
a. Choose four of the selected strategic thrusts and identify one specific business decision
that was influenced by each thrust, for a total of four distinct business decisions. Explain
how each decision was influenced by its corresponding strategic thrust.
Strategic Thrust 1: Superior Manufacturing (High Reliability and Efficiency)
Decision Influenced: We decided to invest in major improvements of systems. Those
investments included environmental hazard controls, clean-room ventilation, air-filtering plants,
and supplier quality programs. The total amount allocated was $831,758 in the sixth quarter.
How the Thrust Influenced the Decision:
Selecting Superior Manufacturing required the company to pursue actions that directly enhanced
product quality, operational reliability, and production consistency. This strategic thrust drove
the decision to invest heavily in system improvements—such as chemical disposal systems, a
clean-room airflow system, and supplier quality programs—which all increase reliability and
reduce defect rates. These improvements align with the thrust’s goal of raising operational
efficiency and ensuring the company delivers consistently high-quality bicycles.
Strategic Thrust 2: Superior Customer Value
Decision Influenced: A major R&D upgrade to the Carbon Fiber Material: Superior – very light,

lightweight carbon fiber material, significantly enhancing the performance and perceived value
of all ArgenBike models. This decision was crucial in strengthening product differentiation while
