1.1 Discussion on the Statement

I do not agree with the statement. Plagiarism is not only about copying from another student.
It also includes using information from books, websites or any other source without giving
proper credit. Academic dishonesty happens when a student presents someone else’s ideas
as their own. This is a serious issue because it shows a lack of honesty and respect for
other people’s work. According to academic guidelines, all sources must be acknowledged,
even if the words are changed. Failing to do this is still considered plagiarism and can lead
to penalties.

1.2 Steps to Avoid Plagiarism

To avoid plagiarism, I will always make sure that I reference all sources that I use.
When using direct quotations, I will copy the exact words and clearly show that they
come from another source. I will also include a proper reference.

When paraphrasing, I will rewrite the information in my own words and still provide a
reference to the original source. When summarising, I will give a short version of the
main ideas and also acknowledge the source.

I will also use the recommended referencing style for the module and check my work
before submitting it to ensure that all sources are properly cited.

1.3 Importance of Reference List

A reference list is important because it shows where the information in the
assignment comes from. It allows the reader to check the sources and confirms that
the work is based on credible information. It also helps to avoid plagiarism.
