Micro organisms : Virus, Bacteria & Fungi with their Positive and Negative
Effects
1. Microorganism: The microscopic organisms which cannot be seen with our
naked eyes are called microorganisms.
● The branch of biology that deals with the study of microorganisms is called
microbiology.
Virus: Virus are the smallest germs that can infect plants, animals, bacteria, fungi and
any other microorganism including other viruses too.
● The meaning of its name is taken as "a molecule of poison".
● The body of a virus consists only of nucleic acid (DNA or RNA) which is enclosed
in a protein case called a capsid.
● Viruses don't eat, drink or breathe, so, there is no metabolism inside them.
Bacteria :-
● Unicellular prokaryotes
● belong to Kingdom Monera
● Spherical, filamentous, cylindrical, etc.
● Found in air, water, soil, in and on the body of other organisms.
● Their body is enclosed within a tough covering called a capsule which helps them
to tolerate extreme environments.
● Some are autotrophic but most of them are saprophytic because of which they
play the role of decomposers for the ecosystem
e.g - Cyanobacteria, Rhizobium, Salmonella, Pseudomonas
