White privilege is a structural and ideological reality. All white people have white privilege, but the
extent to which one has white privileges varies. White privilege can be seen in many areas of socialization
such as the healthcare system, education, and the criminal justice system. White privilege is relevant to
issues of race, racism, racialization and society because many white people have the privilege of not
having to deal with issues of race and racism just because they are white. In many fields of social
interaction, many black, indigenous and people of colour experience structural racism. White people
enjoy many advantages in the same regions. For instance, in the USA, Brock Turner sexually assaulted a
woman and only going to prison for 3 months is an immense example of white privilege. Whereas, the
Central Park 5, who 5 coloured innocent teenagers accused of sexual assault spent most of their lives in
prison. This is an example of white supremacy and how white people are more relaxed, rather than
racialized in our society. BIPOC individuals, particularly in the eyes of the law, are facing racism
everywhere.
