Creativity
In this essay, I will discuss the meaning of creativity and what it means to me. What is the definition of
creativity? Creativity is using your imagination through drawing, coloring, and hands-on activities like
building a robot or a town. Creativity is also envisioning something in your mind and making it come alive
through illustration, music, and even writing.
In an early childhood classroom, I think that art should look like children’s brush painting
through watercolor painting, using vibrant colors, drawings, pipe cleaner's solutions, holiday
crafts, creating self-portraits, using shaving cream and color dye, handprints on large paper, and
food dye coloring to create a rainbow. This form of creativity can help children build up their
sensory skills, fine motor skills, and express their imagination through art.
As an early childcare tutor and teacher assistant, during choice time some of my students
get timid a little bit for crafts, I encourage my students to be creative in the art center. Based
upon the lesson of the day, the children must make a craft based upon the topic of the day. For
example, the children had to make their own craft out of boxes. One of my students made a truck
out of his boxes and used peel on stickers for design. Another student made an airplane out of
her boxes and used paint of her choice to design her plane. While I am observing the children, I
also encourage them as well and let them know that I love their craft along with asking questions
like what items did you use to build your plane and truck? Why did you pick these colors and
peel stickers for your project? The children told me they picked up the truck because they like

how big a truck is, and their dad has a truck. The other child chose a plane because she loves
airplanes.
In Addition, I think divergent thinking is a psychological process not only for early
lerners but for everyone. I believe it helps with brainstorming ideas and that there is no such
thing as a bad idea. Within creativity there are millions of ways that everyone can brainstorm but
from a child perspective, their brainstorming is very creative especially when it comes to
storytelling. On Fridays at my job we do show and tell, this encourages the children to use their
voice, ask open ended questions about the toy they brought to school today, why is it their
favorite toy, how do you use the toy. The best part about it is that the children really enjoy
storytelling and being creative through their own imagination. There are no bad ideas with
divergent thinking either, how I see it you are creating your own masterpiece. It may take days,
weeks, or even months, but you envision how you want it to look like and how you want it to
function through brainstorming. Perfect example, I am currently in the process of writing my
book and have it self- published through Barnes and Noble, it is a bit challenging when it comes
to framing the book measures a certain way that it needs to be for a children's book but I know
this is a goal that I truly want to accomplish this year. I go back to my drawing board, brainstorm
some more and try and figure out a strategy that will work and then execute it. I believe that
creativity can be assessed through different ideas, details, art, writing, designs, and finishing
touches. I also think that believing in yourself and just taking a risk will be helpful in the long
run along with willingness to learn and gain new skills.
In conclusion, I am a creative person, I love writing since I was in my teeenage years, I
express myself through my writings in my journals, I also enjoy digital creation like content
