• Speak toward the unaffected (better) ear
• Do not over-articulate words
• Face the client when speaking
• Reduce background noise
🚨 Assessment Clues
• Speaks loudly
• Turns ear toward speaker
• Reports ringing in ears

📌 Pathophysiology
• Opacification of the lens
• Causes blurred vision, glare sensitivity
🛑 Postoperative Teaching
• Avoid activities that increase intraocular pressure (IOP):
o ❌ Bending at
waist o ❌
Lifting heavy

Straining o ❌
Tying shoes
🚨 Report Immediately
• Flashes of light
• New floaters
• “Curtain” vision
→ May indicate retinal detachment
👁️ Retinal Detachment
🎯 Hallmark Symptom
• “Curtain being pulled over vision”
• Flashes of light (photopsia)
