Press switch - Answer completes the circuit to turn on the circuit when the button is pressed
Slide switch - Answer A device used to connect or disconnect a circuit or component with a
slide bar or knob
Resistor - Answer a device that slows the flow of current
Ammeter - Answer a device used to measure current in a circuit
Speaker - Answer electro-acoustic transducer that converts electrical signals into sounds
loud enough to be heard at a distance
Transducer - Answer an electrical device that converts one form of energy into another
Variable resistor - Answer A resistor whose value can be varied between its minimum and
maximum values.
Capacitor - Answer An electronic device that can maintain an electrical charge for a period of
time and is used to smooth out the flow of electrical current. Capacitors are often found in
computer power supplies.
Diode - Answer A device that permits current to flow through it in only one direction.
LED - Answer Light-emitting diode. An electronic device that conducts current in one
direction only and illuminates when it is conducting.
Photoresistor - Answer a light-sensitive resistor, value changes when a bright light shines
through it
Motor - Answer machine that converts other forms of energy into mechanical energy and so
imparts motion
Bulb - Answer electric lamp consisting of a glass bulb containing a wire filament (usually
tungsten) that emits light when heated
Transistor - Answer A small electronic device used in a circuit as an amplifier or switch.
