Ms Diphego is a terrific singer and grade 12 mathematics teacher at Reholegile High
School. At last year's matric dance at Reholegile, she sang for her learners the popular
Shandesh song called “Modimo o re dirile dichopper”, which translates into English as
“God made us helicopters”. All matric learners, their parents and the teachers were
dancing and singing along.

Based on the scenario about Ms Diphego,
Role 1: Learning Mediator
For example Ms Diphego makes mathematics "more practical" and "fun" for her
learners. A learning mediator's job is to create a positive learning environment and
make meaning accessible, which she does by connecting the subject to real-world,
engaging contexts.
Role 2: Community, Citizenship and Pastoral Role
