Technology can make a large impact on your classroom. With technology, you can enhance the
learning experience by using it as a tool to facilitate in your teaching. The newer generations
have grown up with fast evolution of using technology, so to help create a more stimulating and
engaging learning environment than using technology in your daily activities with the students.
As educators, we can create confident students who will then grow up to be confident adults in
regard to the use of technology that can facilitate in their entire learning career.
1. Equitable use in the classroom is an important key to have when integrating technology into
classroom learning. As teachers we will have a variety of students who come from all different
backgrounds and may not all have the same opportunities when it comes to accessing
technology. Given the chance to give our students access to safe and legit learning resources we
also give each student a greater chance to access learning that will best fit their needs.
Technology gives another way for students who may not learn best with traditional learning pen
and paper style. For example, there are many different websites, game platforms, etc. that
students may find more engaging.
Ethical use in the classroom regarding technology refers to appropriate use and safety when
using websites and platforms. Creating a safe, secure, and protecting students’ privacy and
information online and offline is priority as an educator. It is also my responsibility when
introducing technology to students to also teach them how to safely navigate secure learning
platforms. At the beginning of introduction to using their technology tool (chrome books or iPad)
I will first have a lesson on the importance of internet safety, the Fair Use Act, and taking care of
their equipment.
As an educator who wants to integrate technology in the learning process it is my duty to teach
students social responsibility with technology. The internet is a vast wide place and anything
that you post or posted about you can stay on there forever. To create a safe technology
environment, we as educators must model how to correctly use our technology, this means being
aware of keeping our privacy off social media and create a positive digital footprint. I would first
teach my class the basics of having online etiquette. Teaching student the acronym THINK
before you Post. T-Is it True? H-Is it helpful? I-Is it Inspiring? N-Is it Necessary? K-Is it Kind?
Not only are we teaching responsible etiquette or the classroom but also for their daily use of
technology and social media outside the classroom which is out of our control.
2a. Educators can benefit from CommonSense Education as an online resource for reviews on
different technologies and medias that can be used in the classroom. There is also many different
curriculum lessons pertaining to students using technology in a safe efficient manner that can be
incorporated when integrating technology into learning. Educators can also get free professional
development classes that will teach them how to use technology in their classrooms in different
