In this section of the project, we will explore the factors to consider and the procedures
involved in providing assisted nutrition to hospitalized patients, as well as the feeding
requirements for a sheep wool production business. For example, consider the case of a 12-year-
old dog with advanced renal failure that was hit by a car and admitted to the hospital. The dog
has a jaw fracture, which prevents it from eating. Additionally, the dog had shown a decreased
appetite and was not eating for three days prior to the accident.
When selecting a feeding method for this dog, it is important to remember the factors
when deciding on any given method. A nasogastric feeding tube is a good option for this dog
because it is simple and cost-effective. It is also less invasive compared to other methods. When
deciding to use this feeding method, it's important to think about the dog's health, the seriousness
of any injuries, and other health issues. For instance, using nasogastric feeding is not advisable
for a dog with a bent nasal septum. There is also a risk that the feeding tube could get blocked
(Wag, 2024). Therefore, it’s essential to use easily digestible puppy food in liquid form, such as
