Answer the following questions:
1. As a generalist RN functioning as a staff nurse, what is your role related to the
concept of psychosis? Data collection, establishing a therapeutic relationship,
interventions, education, and reassessment.
2. What are the types of symptoms that might indicate a person is experiencing
psychosis?
Positive symptoms: define positive symptoms and list them: Feelings or behavior that
are usually not present: hallucinations, delusions, paranoia, alogia, disorganized
speech, and disorganized behavior.
Negative symptoms: define negative symptoms and list them: Absence or lack of mental
function involving thinking, behavior, and perception: apathy, reduced social drive, loss
of interest, difficulty concentrating, and organization deficit.
