ASSIGNMENT NO: 01
YEAR : 2026
PREVIEW:
By portraying Eastern societies as fundamentally different and inferior, European writers
reinforced political and cultural hierarchies that supported imperial rule. As a result,
Eurocentric interpretations can produce an incomplete or biased understanding of the
past because they overlook indigenous perspectives and contributions. A more
inclusive approach to history therefore requires recognising the agency of non-
European societies and analysing imperial encounters as complex interactions rather
than one-sided processes of Western progress
