Describe a typical day for you.
Typical day is, | usually wake up between five and seven in the
morning. | love to watch my news, I'll watch the weather. I'll watch
it, in fact, every chance--I like to keep up with what's coming on
and what's actually going to be leaving us in the form of heat or
rain. | do watch Sports Zone, watch some entertainment shows.
Then I'll get up and I'll start doing my exercises for PT and OT. |
used to exercise quite often and go to the gym. Since | had my
Parkinson's, | kind of miss it. I'm waiting for permission to be able
to do that again. | do kind of miss, I'm losing a lot of muscle tone
and mass and seem to be a lot more stiff in the mornings.
Areas of Concern
33 seconds
Why are you here today?
My most upsetting one is the fact that | seem to be losing more or
lost a lot of my volume and tone and sound in my voice. That's
frustrating for me. Also, I'm not able to dress as easily as | used to.
I'm a little unsteady at times. When | get up in the mornings, |
sometimes lose my balance if | don't stand there for a few seconds
to get my balance and then begin to walk. Everyday tasks are much
slower for me. That's a little frustrating, it's all frustrating because
I'm still trying to learn the disease. I'm finding out it's a lot more
than what | thought initially it was and was told it was by friends
and people that knew me.

Tell me more about the issues you are having with communicating.
I'm not shy by any means, pretty silly and funny at times, try to be.
With this, it's kind of saddened me some. I'm trying to put thatin
the back of my mind. | find myself apologizing often times for the
fact if I think I'm talking too soft, which most of the time | am, like
possibly now, | apologize a lot which | try to do better with. That's
okay, we understand it, we can still hear you. | seem to feel like |
hear myself a lot softer and quieter or louder than what | am. I'm
always having to remind myself to be cued to actually speak much
