USMLE Step 1 Repro Embryo
Pierre Robin Sequence
Etiology
-1st Pharyngeal Arch defect
Sx
-Small mandible
-Tongue displaced posteriorly
-U-shaped cleft palate
-Airway obstruction (Bc the tongue elapses into the posterior Oropharynx)
Dx
-Breathing improved once pt is placed in prone position
Testes
Anastomoses of the ____________________ is provided by both the Testicular artery + the
artery of the Ductus Deferens
Cervical Cancer
Risk Factors
-End-stage Renal Failure
-Azotemia
-Hydroureters
-Hydronephrosis
Clomiphene
MOA
-Selective Estrogen modulator
Effects
-AntiEstrogenic on Pituitary (Blocks the "-" feedback of circulating Estrogens)
, -↑↑ FSH release
-↑↑ LH release
Mins after Delivery
Physiological Changes
-↓↓ Pulmonary Vascular Resistance
-↑↑ Pulmonary Blood Flow
Retina
Fetal Retinal Vascularization is not complete until term. Prematurity interrupts this process and
thus in pts w/ Neonatal RDS, supplemental O2 is given to prevent the development
of Retinopathy of Prematurity
Topical Erythromycin
Prophylaxis for Neonatal Conjunctival infections
Remember that is a Macrolide (50 S Ribosomal Protein inhibitor/Protein Synthesis inhibitor)
Ovarian Lymph Flow
Para-Aortic LNs → Cysterna Chyli → Thoracic Duct → Left Subclavian Vein
Ductal Carcinoma
Dx
-Ducts distended by Pleomorphic cells w/ prominent central necrosis
**C on Image**
1o Ovarian Insufficiency
Risk Factors
-Chemotherapy
Pathophys
-Folliular atresia/Apoptosis after radiation exposure
Pregnant
Latex w/ β-hCG + Absence ofAgglutination
Not Pregnant
