1 INLEIDING
1.1 THE NERVOUS SYSTEM
- Central nervous system
o consists of brain and spinal cord
- Peripheral nervous system
o consists of all other neural elements
o In addition to the brain and spinal cord, principal organs of the nervous system

▪ Ears
▪ Sensory organs of taste
▪ Sensory organs of smell
▪ Sensory receptors located in skin, joints, muscles, and other parts of the
body

- Nervous system is vulnerable to various disorders and can be damaged by:

wires, enabling nerve impulses to travel quickly
