What is business about?
• Making money
• Providing employment
• Producing goods/services that people need/want
• Minimising the inherent risk of running a business
• Reducing disagreement by providing a clear organisational structure
What business forms are available
Sole Trader
• One-person business
• No formalities involved
No legal filing requirements or fees
• Personal savings or a bank loan can be used as capital
• No legal separation between traders personal and business capacity, therefore:
- All profits and losses belong to sole trader
- Sole trader bears personal liability for all debts
- Self-employed (but can employ others)
- Business ends on death
