Oogenesis and spermatogenesis are similar because they both begin with diploid stem

different. Spermatogenesis begins at puberty and continues throughout a man's life,
producing millions of sperm daily. It results in four functional sperm cells from each
spermatogonium. In contrast, oogenesis begins before birth; a female is born with all the
primary oocytes she will ever have, which are arrested in prophase I until puberty. Each
month after puberty, one oocyte completes meiosis I and starts meiosis II, but only
