Dimensions of ABA - Answers 1. Applied
2. Behavioral
3. Analytic
4. Conceptually Systematic
5. Technological
6. Effective
7. Generality
Applied - Answers investigates socially significant behaviors with immediate importance to the
subject(s).
Behavioral - Answers - Precise measurement of the actual behavior in need of improvement &
documents that it was the participant's behavior that changed.
- The behavior in need of improvement and it is a study of behavior (not about behavior)
- The behavior must be measurable
- Important to note whose behavior has changed
Analytic - Answers Demonstrates experimental control over the occurrence and nonoccurrence of the
behavior—that is, if a functional relation is demonstrated.
Technological - Answers Written description of all procedures in the study is sufficiently complete and
detailed to enable others to replicate it
Conceptually systematic - Answers behavior change interventions are derived from basic principles of
behavior
Effective - Answers improves behavior sufficiently to produce practical results for the
participant/client.
Generality - Answers Produces behavior changes that last over time, appear in other environments, or
spread to other behaviors.
Stating contingencies tests - Answers 1. Whose behavior test
2. Receiver Test
3. Specific-Behavior Test
4. Dead-Person test
5. Action test
6. outcome change test
7. related outcomes test
8. sixty-second test
9. causality test
10. event test
Whose Behavior Test - Answers if we want to analyze a behavior, we must state whose behavior it is
Receiver test - Answers Is the behaver the receiver of the outcome (after condition)?
Specific-Behavior Test - Answers Is it perfectly clear exactly what action is involved in the behavior?
Dead Person's Test - Answers If a dead person can "do" it, it is NOT behavior
Action Test - Answers make sure that the behavior being analyzed is something the person does, not
something that is done to the person
Outcome Change Test - Answers the outcome (after condition) must be different from the before
condition
Related Outcomes Test - Answers Is the before condition related to the after condition?
Sixty-second test - Answers the outcome must follow the behavior within 60 seconds to be
considered a strict behavioral contingency (i.e. not verbally mediated or rule-governed)
Causality Test - Answers Is the outcome caused by the response?
Event Test - Answers the after condition needs to be an event, not a behavior of the "behaver."
However, the event can be someone else's behavior
Applied Behavior Analysis - Answers This is a branch of behavior analysis that uses behavior principles
to solve practical problems such as the treatment of autism or improved teaching methods
Behavior - Answers Refers to anything an organism does, including covert actions like thinking
Behavioral neuroscience - Answers refers to a scientific area that integrates the science of behavior
with the science of the brain. Areas of interest include the effects of drugs on behavior, neural
imaging and complex stimulus relations, choice and neural activity, and the brain circuitry or learning
and addiction
