Transition Report Notes for P
PSED
P has settled very well at playschool. Although she can be a little shy when she first arrives, she
quickly warms up, explores the environment, and interacts confidently with both peers and staff.
She seeks out companionship with other children and has formed some special friendships.
Since starting playschool, P has grown hugely in confidence. She is now more outgoing, often
approaching other children to play. She speaks confidently about her interests and opinions and
can assert her ideas and preferences. P shows confidence when choosing resources and
engaging in activities of her choice.
At times, P uses screams or loud voices to express emotions such as excitement, fear, or
anger. We gently remind her to use words to express herself instead. For example, if she
doesn’t like what another child is doing, she is encouraged to use her words to tell them rather
than scream, so they can understand how she feels.
Communication and language
P shows good levels of focus when she is interested in an activity. She is able to follow simple
instructions and can speak confidently in full sentences. P uses language to share her feelings,
experiences, and thoughts, and she enjoys having conversations about things that matter to
her. P often recalls past events clearly and loves familiar songs and stories, especially the
Bluey Freeze Dance. She also enjoys listening to the Tonie box during quiet times.
Physical
P is highly active and loves running and chasing games like “What’s the Time, Mr Wolf?”. She
moves around confidently, navigating space well when running. P jumps with enthusiasm on the
trampoline and confidently plays on the seesaw. During our dinosaur topic, P loved stomping
around playschool pretending to be a dinosaur. She moves expressively to music, enjoys our
morning stretch, and joins in with action songs. P often talks about her ballet lessons with peers,
something she’s clearly proud of.
P uses a variety of tools for mark-making and painting; for example, paintbrushes, crayons,
cotton wool balls and toy cars. She turns pages carefully when looking at books and enjoys
using tools like rolling pins, cutters, and scissors with play dough. P also uses children’s knives
to cut bananas for snack time. P feeds herself confidently, drinks from a cup without spilling,
and tells adults when she’s hungry, full, or tired. She follows handwashing routines and is fully
toilet trained.

her peers and loves stories in all forms - print, YouTube videos, CDs, and her Tonie box. She
