Organization and
Leadership Evaluation with
Accurate Solutions

Elizabeth Robinson

,A. Discuss Organization:

Healthy U Healthcare System was founded in 1874 in downtown Derry as a single

hospital. Over the years, it has expanded to include ten hospitals across the southern

region of the state. The Main Center serves as a level-one trauma center and teaching

hospital, featuring a state-of-the-art biomedical research facility. It is the largest hospital

in the state, employing a dedicated staff of 9,000 individuals.

As a nonprofit organization, Healthy U Healthcare System has 989 licensed beds

distributed among ten Health Centers and one Behavioral Health Center. The hospital

provides over 80 specialties, addressing a wide range of medical conditions, from

strokes and burns to newborn care. Additionally, it boasts a cutting-edge transplant

center that incorporates advanced robotics.

B. Current leadership development program:

The recently acquired hospitals and physician groups within the Healthy U Health

System are grappling with consistency in how managers and leaders handle employee

relationships and performance. In addition, significant challenges with an alarmingly

high turnover rate burden staffing and reduce the time available to train and develop

emerging leaders. These issues contribute to an environment lacking stability,

ultimately hindering the establishment of standardized operational processes crucial for

effective healthcare delivery. To effectively tackle these pressing concerns, Healthy U

Health System must rapidly implement a comprehensive retention and career ladder

program. This program will not only attract and retain experienced healthcare staff but

, also pave the way for a more stable and efficient future, in anticipation of planned

growth initiatives.

Currently, each hospital operates under a disjointed mix of ineffective retention

programs and truncated processes that fail to sustain operations despite the continuous

departure of skilled personnel. One inefficiency in developing new leaders is the lack of

consistency with organizational leadership training. Skill development should be

consistent to receive effective performance results. This lack of continuity disrupts

patient care and undermines the system’s efficiency. To address these shortcomings, a

robust leadership and management training program will be rolled out. This program

aims to develop structured career ladders for clinical and non-clinical staff, fostering

professional development and clear advancement pathways.

A second inefficiency is that the current leadership training program primarily consists of

online, self-directed modules. While this approach offers practical flexibility for

employees with demanding schedules, it can also prove ineffective and inefficient.

Developing leadership skills can be complex and often raises as many questions as it

resolves. Self-directed training lacks opportunities for real-time questions and feedback.

Furthermore, the fragmented nature of these programs means that leaders within the

organization do not receive consistent training. In healthcare, leaders often provide

support across various locations, even in areas where they may have less familiarity.

This can create confusion for both the leaders and the employees they supervise.

Implementing standardized training across the health system will help to bridge this gap.

As previously discussed, one of the most significant advantages of the current training
