was the housekeeper of Catherine Earnshaw.

Isabella Linton: Edgar’s sister
Chapter 1
Lockwood has just returned from visiting his landlord, who is Mr Heathcliff and his only
neighbour and he thinks they look alike. Lockwood is renting a property from him and he
likes it, it’s located in Yorkshire moors. Heathcliff didn’t let Lockwood enter until a while, and
then, he meets Joseph. His house is named Wuthering Heights (windswept house on a hill).
The name Earnshaw is into a stone on the front door. They enter the main room and, when
Mr Heathcliff disappears, his dogs attack Lockwood. A woman rushed into the rooms to calm
the dogs. Heathcliff offers wine to Lockwood as an apologize.
The next day, Lockwood came back to Wuthering heights but Joseph didn’t let him
enter because inside, there was only Mrs. Heathcliff, who didn’t say anything. Mr Heatchliff
appears and says that Lockwood shouldn’t have come because he won’t find the way back
to his house (Thrushcross Grange). He asks if Heath could lend him a servant, but he denies
it. Then, we know that the wife and the son of Mr Heathcliff are dead, and that the lady is the
wife of his son. Lockwood asks to stay there for the night and, as he has to share bed with
someone, he decides to go back home, but the dogs attack him and the others laugh. Zillah
helps him, and he stays there for the night.
Chapter 2
Zillah gives Lockwood a room that Heathcliff doesn’t want to give anyone. He noticed that
the names of Catherine Earnshaw, Catherine Heathcliff and Catherine Linton were written on
the wall, and, after he falls asleep, we wakes up with the smell of burning because the
cendre had fall on the Bible and it was burning it. When he opened it, he discovered that
there some missing pages and there was written Catherine Earnshaw’s diary, 1776. (25
years ago). There was written that his brother hated Heathcliff.
He was woken another time by a knock on the window and he broke the glass to
open it. His fingers closed around a hand and it was Catherine Linton’s hand. Lockwood
didn’t let her enter and then, Heathcliff asked if there was anyone in the room. Lockwood
opened the curtains and Heathcliff was surprised and angry, asking who had let Lockwood to
sleep into that room. He reveals that it has the housekeeper. Heathcliff threw on the bed and
, opened the window, asking her to come inside. He sees Catherine Linton’s ghost, which
hasn’t appear in 20 years, and he frightens. He waited in the kitchen until it was light to go
back to his home. Her housekeeper though he had died. Lockwood thinks that Mr Heathcliff
is rough and mean, and Ellen says that he is also very rich. He could live in that house,
which is better, but he prefers to receive rent.
Chapter 3
Ellen was always at Wuthering Heights and she also played with Catherine and Hindley. His
father, came from a trip from Liverpool and he brought baby mr. Heathcliff, because he was
alone in the streets of Liverpool. Firstly, he wasn’t good received but then, they started
accepting him by the family, and they named him Heathcliff, as an only name. Hindley hated
him but Heath made friends with Catherine. Hindley was jealous because of his father’s
feelings for Heathcliff and Mr Earnshaw’s send Hindley to study abroad because he treated
Heathcliff very bad. Heathcliff was Mr Earnshaw’s favourite and, when Hindley left to study
abroad, was Joseph who caused trouble, because they didn’t spend enough time studying
the Bible. They kept Catherine separated from Heathcliff and years later, his father died
(1775). It was when Catherine went to say goodnight to him that she noticed that he was
dead. Ellen listened the children when they were wondering in which safe place the dead
man was.

When Hindley came back for his dad’s funeral, he brought his wife with him. Her name was
Frances. He ordered the servants not to be in the main room, as usual, and Catherine was
treated nicely while Heathcliff was made to work on the farm and he was only allowed to eat
in the back-kitchen. One Sunday, both were missing, and Hindley asked Ellen to lock the
door but she left the window open. She only saw Heathcliff walking alone, and he told her
that Catherine was at Thrushcross Grange with the Linton. Heathcliff explains that they
walked to the Lintons house because they wanted to see if Isabella and Edgar were as
punished as they were. Lintons heard them laughing because they were fighting with a dog
and they sent the dogs after them, and one caught Catherine’s leg in its teeth. Mr Linton
thought they were thieves. They put a bandage in Catherine’s leg and also started criticizing
Heathcliff.
Due to this, Hindley warned Heathcliff that if he talked again to Catherine, he would
send him far away fron Wuthering Heights. Catherine stayed with the Lintons’ until
Christmas, and when she came home she was a different person. Hindley treated Heathcliff
as a servant. Catherine was so glad to see him but he wasn’t. On Christmas day, Linton’s
kids were invited to lunch, and Mrs Linton accepted only if Heathcliff wasn’t there. Ellen
helped him to clean his clothes. Ellen says him to not be jealous of Edgar Linton. Heathcliff
wishes to be as Edgar and Ellen encouraged him to have more confident in himself.
Heathcliff, in the lunch, threw a soup bowl to Edgar and then, Hindley took Heathcliff
upstairs.
Catherine was sad and, when music started playing, Catherine went to the top of the
house to talk with Heathcliff. Ellen convinced them both to leave the room and Heathcliff
stayed in the servants kitchen and Catherine returned to the main room. Heatchliff couldn’t
eat anything because he was thinking his revenge on Hindley.
