Owned by parent company, Darden Restaurants, Inc., Olive Garden was founded in 1982
and is known for its classic Italian dishes. As of December 2020, there are more than 860
restaurant locations in United States and Canada (Lock, 2021). Olive Garden is the flagship
restaurant of the Darden brand, accounting for roughly half of its annual revenue (Lucas, 2021).
The company reported a net income of $36.1 million for the quarter ending August 2020; down
from $170 million the previous year (Lucas, 2021).
