Es la inflamación de una articulación debido a una infección bacteriana.
Siempre que haya una MONOARTRITIS pensar en Artritis Séptica, por lo general de una
articulación grande como rodilla, tobillo, codo asociada a SIGNOS DE FLOGOSIS


MICROORGANISMOS + FRECUENTES:
• Neisseria Gonorrhoeae
• Staphyloccocus Aureus

La articulación Diartrodial normal es resistente a la infección bacteriana debido a sus
defensas locales y generales del huésped.
Las bacterias pueden llegar a la articulación con revestimiento sinovial por Vía
Hematógena y pueden causas la Artritis Séptica.

- La causa + probable de MONOARTRITIS en articulación PROTÉSICA en hombre
anciano→ Staphyloccocus
- ARTRITIS MIGRATORIA en mujer sexualmente activa con lesiones cutáneas→
Infección Gonocócica Diseminada

Causada por STAPHYLOCCOCUS→ Resistente a Meticilina (++en edad avanzada, drogas
IV y prótesis)

CLÍNICA
La presentación CLÁSICA de Artritis Séptica NO GONOCÓCICA(++)→ Consiste en dolor de
inicio brusco, tumefacción y disminución de la movilidad de la articulación afectada
(++art. grandes)
ADULTOS: ++En la rodilla (50%)
LACTANTES Y NIÑOS: ++Cadera

Se da más en pacientes inmunodeprimidos, usuarios de drogas IV, prótesis articulares o
con enfermedades neoplásicas, insuficiencia renal y artritis reumatoide.

INFECCIÓN GONOCÓCICA→ ++mujeres jóvenes con actividad sexual activa y puede estar
asociada a dispositivos intrauterinos

Dos formas clínicas
1. En pacientes con Infección Gonocócica Diseminada caracterizada por:
a. Fiebre
b. Escalofríos
c. Lesiones Cutáneas Vesiculopustulosas
d. Tenosinovitis Múltiple (muñeca, mano, tobillo y dedos del pie)
e. Poliartralgias
f. HEMOCULTIVOS (+)
g. CULTIVO DE LÍQUIDO SINOVIAL (-)
2. Tienen una infección articular localizada SIN manifestaciones generales
