NUR 2063 Module 2 Assignment Immune System Disorders
Module 2 Assignment: Immune System Disorders The immune disorder researched in this paper is Crohn’s disease, which is an inflammatory bowel disease. The disease occurs in the gastrointestinal tract due to inflammation. The pathophysiology of the disease will be addressed. This author interviewed a co-worker who has been living with Crohn’s disease that was able to answer many questions relating to living with the disease. Pathophysiology of Crohn’s disease “The traditional view of the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease is that intestinal inflammation is mediated by cells of the acquired immune system. The chronic inflammation could result from overly aggressive activity of effector lymphocytes and proinflammatory cytokines, which overcome the control mechanisms.” (Bamias, 2005) Another mechanism of Crohn’s disease include the resistance of T cells undergoing apoptosis
