HUMAN ANATOMY WEEK 5 LAB WORKSHEET -
PELVIS AND PERINEUM SECTION 9 2026
LATEST UPDATED VERSION
Purpose: to better understand the anatomy of the pelvis, pelvic floor, and
perineum.
Part 1: Pelvis
1. Identify the three bones that make up the pelvis (pelvic inlet) Hint: two are
paired. (1 pt):
- [hip bone (left and right)] innominate bones & sacrum
2. What is the name for the fibrous connective tissue that anteriorly
connects the two paired bones that you listed above (1 pt)?
- Pubic symphysis
3. Next, identify the three bone segments that make up the os coxa (3 pts):
- Ileum, pubis, ischium
4. Within the hip socket, you will notice that the three segments you listed
above come together at this structure. What is the anatomical name for
the hip socket itself, and what bone articulates with this socket to form
the hip joint (2 pts)?
- Femur, acetabulum
5. In consultation with your terms list, your textbook/anatomy atlas, and
Visible Body, explore the position of the various bones and bony features of
the pelvis in relation to one another. Then, using directional anatomical
terminology, complete the following statement (2 pts):
The coccyx is inferior to the sacrum.
, 2
The iliac crest is on the anterior/superior aspect of the ilium.
6. There are various nearby nervous structures around the pelvis. What
plexus of nerves from your terms list is found on the posterior wall of the
pelvic inlet (Hint: some terms from the Abdomen section of the list can
also be identified in the pelvis) (1 pt):
- Pampiniform plexus
