Poverty and Maternal gestational diabetes (GDM) correlated with low socioeconomic status, or SES and ADD/ADHD
The research is attempting to associate maternal gestational diabetes (GDM) with low socioeconomic status, or SES with the later development of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder. Through the research paper, the authors also link GDM with SES, explaining that a sedentary lifestyle and dietary choices both play a role in its development, as well as the prevalence in minority communities. As such, we can view the research as attempting to show that poverty is one prevalent factor in the de...

Overeating Phycology Twelve Step Program
Fitzpatrick (2012) notes that a successful overeating intervention should also incorporate cognitive-behavioral strategies (self-monitoring, etc.) as well as a focus on internal motivations for overeating.

Vertebrates
The Hall of Vertebrate Origins at the American Museum of Natural History is an impressive collection of fossils and specimens which allow the visitor to see parallel structures such as wings and flippers evolve over time. While the inner architecture of the ear is often hidden from view, we can recognize that the environmental pressure to develop them is present across different habitats, and the investment to develop them in terms of biological resources is relatively low.

Literature Review GMO
A literature review of GMOs. Cibelli, J., & Wilmut, I., & Jaenisch, R., & Lanza, R., & West, M.D., & Campbell, K. H. S. (2014). Principles of Cloning. Waltham, MA: Academic Press.
This book is more on the technical side and is probably too advanced for general readers; however it provides one of the most current overviews of emerging and newly-developed techniques for this type of technology.

The HPV Vaccine: Critical Article Review
Given the recent vaccine debates, this topic often produces acrimonious exchanges and a plethora of articles, posts, and social organization. It is concerning because we are seeing a resurgence of preventable diseases such as mumps and whooping cough. The efficacy and safety of vaccines has been proved through peer-reviewed sources, and negligible negative impacts are eclipsed by the positive “herd immunity” that results from vaccination programs.

Genetically Modified Organisms
A genetically modified organism, or GMO, is an entity whose "genetic make-up has been deliberately altered" (Jumba, 2010 p. 1). The resulting animal or plant is referred to as "transgenic." Transgenic plants and animals have an ever-increasing variety of uses and applications. Plants can be modified so that they are resistant to pesticide application, so that they can deliver greater nutrition, and even have glowing genes inserted to indicate that they need to be watered (Zimmer, ...

Genetic Manipulation
Advances in gene manipulation have given rise to practical applications in myriad fields including agriculture, medicine, and research. Sentinel plants are able to fluoresce when they need water, and spinal cord injuries are able to be healed in mouse models using manipulated stem cells

Cloning: History, Types, and Ethical Concerns
These organisms are at an advantage when the environment is stable and has few demands; such a population can reproduce quickly. However, in the face of changing environmental pressures, organisms can use mutation and gene mixing to create variety that will possibly be successful. Scientists can also create clones artificially through biotechnological approaches.
