This is a document with certain psychology terms and their definitions that are used in first year. This also includes examples in the definition.

These notes cover the whole introduction of psychology and the evolution of psychology used in the first test of the year. These are in depth and clear notes that can be used to help summarise content. These notes helped me get 100% for my first psychology semester test.

Earlier psychological theories (such as Freud’s) depicted aggression as the outburst of powerful inner forces. Recent theories have considered aggression as a kind of strategic behaviour that people use to influence others, get what they want and defend certain ideas that they see as under attack.

Cognitive development means how we think, explore and figure things out. It is the development of knowledge, skills, problem solving and dispositions, which help us to think about and understand the world around them. Brain development is part of cognitive development.
