There is a lack of affordable after school care in the area. After school enrichment programs improve academic outcomes, as well offering low cost childcare options for working parents.

The goals of the Planting Seeds Afterschool Enrichment Program are to improve academic outcomes for the students participating, while offering additional childcare to families whose work schedules do not permit pick up, and mentors who are attempting to build a trusting relationship with the children while making sure their needs are being met.
