Cofactors are non-protein components essential for an effective enzyme-controlled reaction. Examples of cofactors are coenzymes. Coenzymes are organic molecules of cofactors and this includes vitamins such as vitamin B5.
Prosthetic groups are non-protein cofactors and this includes ions such as Zn2+.

When the substrate-enzyme concentration increases, the number of substrates in a particular area or volume increases. This leads to a higher collision rate. More enzyme-substrate complexes are formed and as a result the rate of reaction increases.
