Culturally Responsive Teaching and Its Impact on Diverse Student Populations
Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) is a crucial approach employed in diverse
classrooms to address inequalities. According to history, learning facilities depended on a
Eurocentric curriculum. As Barton and Riddle (2021) maintain, the borrowed curriculum would
exclude minority learners, translating into disengagement and academic achievement gaps. Over
the years, CRT and multicultural education have been born. These have played a fundamental
role in affirming students’ identities and in the integration of cultural backgrounds into teaching
(Copeland Solas & Kamalodeen, 2022). According to research, CRT elevates learners’
engagement. The approach also strengthens the relationship between learners and teachers.
Moreover, it improves achievement in academics (Nashran Azizan et al., 2025; Zeng et al.,
2025). Nevertheless, challenges are still evident. Some of them include inadequate preparation
of teachers, low confidence, and barriers in online learning setups (O’Leary et al., 2020; Kumi-
Yeboah et al., 2023). Currently, districts and schools are implementing approaches like
workshops for professional development. They are also implementing educator preparation
programs and inclusive policies. Similarly, they have embraced family-community involvement
in support of CRT (Christensen & Knezek, 2025; Ialuna et al., 2024). The action plan presents
the steps for strengthening the implementation of CRT in my district. The central idea is to make
sure learners enjoy equity and inclusion.
Action Plan
The central aim of this action plan is to implement CRT practices in the entire district.
The implementation is intended to elevate not only learners’ engagement and academic
achievement but also equity. The goal will be realized through targeted professional
development and curriculum redesign. It will also entail community and family partnerships and
