Anorexia Nervosa: A Case Study Calan Ploegsma University Of Northern Colorado Introduction On the snow and cloud covered day of the second clinical experience I met K.A.M. on the eating disorders unit at Children’s Hospital Colorado. The patient is a shy 13-year-old female who wears a convincing smile, yet her red hair frames her pale face and sad eyes. K.A.M. lives in Superior, Colorado, and was brought to the hospital after her mother noticed an increase in weight loss and a growing resistance to appropriate eating habits. Soon after her hospital visit, K.A.M. was diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa, and has now been clinically diagnosed for two years. During an interview with K.A.M., she expressed that “food makes me feel anxious.” Greatly intrigued by K.A.M.’s diagnosis and personality, she was chosen for a complete assessment and case study.
