TEM2 Task 1: Organizational Structure
Business Environment Applications I: Business Structures and Legal Environment — D078
A. Organizational Structure
A1. Description of the Chosen Structure
For my consulting business, I would choose a teams structure. A teams structure organizes work
around small groups of people who combine different strengths to complete shared goals. Instead
of separating everyone into traditional departments, employees collaborate across functions and
solve problems together. This structure fits the consulting scenario because sustainability projects
require creativity, flexibility, and diverse skill sets. Each business in the community has unique
environmental and innovation needs, which means the organization must be able to adapt
quickly.
In this setup, my interns and future employees would operate in project teams. Each team would
assess specific businesses, gather data, meet with stakeholders, and build proposals that support
sustainability. This structure keeps the business mission focused while allowing work to move
faster and stay innovative.
A2. How the Four Design Factors Work in the Teams Structure
Functions or Departments
In a teams structure, work is arranged around project groups rather than traditional departments.
Functions are still represented, but they work together within the same team. For example, a
team might include someone skilled in research, another in data interpretation, and another in
community outreach. This approach keeps collaboration strong and minimizes barriers between
job roles.
