, Definition:
Overweight and obesity are defined as abnormal or excessive fat
accumulation that presents a risk to health. The World Health Organization
(WHO) defines overweight as a BMI greater than or equal to 25, and obesity
as a BMI greater than or equal to 30.
Body mass index (BMI) = weight (kg)/height (m)2.
Severe and complex obesity is a phrase commonly used for patients with body
mass index (BMI) ≥35 and obesity-related disease, or BMI ≥40 by itself.
