All ma er is made up of ny par cles (atoms, molecules, or ions).These par cles are in constant mo on,
and their movement depends on the state of ma er (solid, liquid, or gas).
The par cles have energy—the energy is highest in gases and lowest in solids.
The par cles are separated by spaces, which are smallest in solids, larger in liquids, and largest in gases.
The par cles collide with each other and with the walls of their container. These collisions are elas c,
meaning no energy is lost.

Boiling happens at a specific temp and throughout the whole liquid while evapora on happens over a
range of temp and at the surface of the liquid.
