Training can be defined as a planned process to modify attitude, knowledge, skill
behavior through a learning experience, to achieve performance in any activity or range of
activities.
Development on the other hand can be defined as the maximization of existing skills and
competencies so as to become more effective and productive thus maximizing employee
potential.
Development involves various activities and relationships by which individuals access

responsibility or different job roles over time and are given guidance and support and
pursues personal and career development goals.
