The same disease must result when the isolated micro is inoculated into a healthy host. 4. The same micro must be isolated again from the diseased host. Pasteur and coworkers developed vaccines for chicken cholera, anthrax, and rabies. Paul Ehrlich (chemo) Chemotherapy. Developed arsenic-based drug, Salvarsan, that was effective against syphilis. It was the first drug methodically developed to treat a specific disease. Gerhard Domagk (chemo) Prontosil discovered. Protects from lethal staphylococci and haemolytic streptococci. Discovery of the antibacterial action of the sulfonamides. Alexander Flemming (chemo) Discovery of penicillin. D. Iwanowski (viruses) Discovered tobacco mosaic viruses.
