Distance to power
The way in which less powerful members of institutions, accept the unequal division of
power.
Individualism versus collectivism
• As society Is individualistic if the connection between individuals is weak. People take
care of themselves.
• A society is collectivistic if individuals spend their entire lives in a strong group. They
must remain loyal to their group.
Masculinity versus feminity
A society is masculine if sex roles are clearly separated.
Masculine society:
• Men are: aggressive, strong materials, successful
• Woman are: humble, soft look at the quality of life.
Uncertainty avoidance
The way in which members of a culture feel threatened by uncertainty or unknown
situations and have created beliefs and institutions that try to avoid these.
