, Eustress
Eustress is a positive effect on performance. For example, the characteristics of eustress is that it
is a short term form of stress which enhances focus.

Eustress might cause an athlete to perceive a demand as a challenge rather than a threat. This can
cause an increase in motivation which can cause the athlete to focus more. For example, Usain Bolt
might use eustress to focus on overcoming an obstacle such as the olympics. This will help him
concentrate on improving his starts to win his race. Bob Beamon claimed he harnessed his stress to
use it as energy which helped break the long jump record by 2 feet. Andy Murray used the pressure
and stress placed on him to be the first British Wimbledon Champion in 77 years. This helped him
focus on his task which had a positive affect on his skill level.
