This paper outlines an Individual Treatment Plan (ITP) for a 17-year-old client named Kimmy, whose behaviors of defiance, disregard for rules, and lying have led to the clinical diagnosis of Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), based on DSM-5 criteria. The presenting issue is complicated by the client's parents' recent divorce and their resultant lack of co-parental collaboration, which contributes to the client's behavioral crisis. The document sets out two primary treatment goals, focusing on identifying underlying family issues and improving parental collaboration. It then suggests two specific interventions: Family Therapy (using group therapy) and Individual Therapy (incorporating Motivational Interviewing), each with specific objectives aimed at teaching parents responsible parenting elements and helping the client understand the need for change. The paper emphasizes the systemic nature of the problem, where outcomes for the daughter affect the entire family unit

Individual Treatment Plan Assignment

Summary description of the client and presenting issue

Arthur is a 43-year-old man, a divorced father of 3 children. He is worried about his 17-

year-old daughter’s behavioral trajectory. She has been acting out lately- coming home late, past

her curfew. She also continues hanging out with friends that his father disapproves of. Arthur

has tried to reach out to Kimmy’s mom for support, but she is uncooperative in protest to his

divorce. Kimmy has demonstrated utter defiance, and efforts to correct her via punishment have

been futile. She has disregarded the punishments and instructions and continues to sneak out of

home. She is irritated by his father, and considers his involvement as intrusive of her personal

space. She has started engaging in deceit. She lies to his father about her whereabouts and peers

she has been hanging out with.

DSM diagnosis of the problem

 Deliberately doing things to upset or annoy others, particularly adults.

 Maladaptive behaviors, such as deceit and obsession with desires to be left alone

Appropriate Evidence

Kimmy demonstrates a majority of the above-stated criteria. She engages in tantrums and

defiance towards her father. She refuses to comply with her father’s instructions. For instance,
