NR390 Discussion week 1 Nursing history is not just about the past and famous people, but is being made by nurses every day. Who do you know that is making nursing history today? Describe the contributions that one specific nurse is making to nursing history today. Hello Professor and Class! As the saying goes “Not all superheroes wears capes”. I love what I do and yes there are several great nurses that I have admired in my 13years in nursing career and I believe there are many more that I will meet along the way. The nurse that I admire the most is my ex co-worker Lisa, who has been a nurse for over 20years, she is 53 years old, has been superstar of the year 4times since have known her, she is superstar of the month at least once a year, has been nominated by the patients for the daisy award severally and has the heart of gold when it comes to patient care. Lisa is a great team player who is there to help and guide other nurses on the right way of doing things efficiently and correctly. She shows compassion for her patients and make every patient feel loved and welcome. Very thorough in everything she do and also has great communication skills. She created a report form that was use in the entire organization. Normally, it is difficult to give detail report on all 20 of your pt in the LTC facility, but she devised way of nurses given detail report on every patient in a very simple but detailed way. She is a very good educator, she loves to educate patients as well as her colleagues. I consider her a great nurse and I always encourage her join a nursing organization where she can present some of her good work ethics for others to copy from. As Judd said, “To my hard-working, career-minded colleagues who focus much on the well-being of others, please remember when the final curtain falls, it is not the credentials or what we’ve accomplished professionally that will linger most in the hearts of our families and closest friends, it is what we have been to them personally” (Judd pg. 6).
