Ross and other leaders fought government In Worcester v. Georgia
(1832) the Court held that the Cherokee Indians constituted a
nation holding distinct sovereign powers, but the decision would
not protect the Cherokees from removal.


First Provisional Congress Ans: Johnson would appoint a
provisional governor to supervise the Reconstruction process.
When Reconstruction had been completed and the state
readmitted and represented in Congress, this provisional governor
