1 Inleiding – waarom ecologisch bouwen?
1.1 Het ontstaan van milieuproblemen
Industriële Revolutie => steeds meer verontreinigingen
1) Mens kreeg mogelijkheid om aan schaalvergroting te doen
 Grotere productiecapaciteit aan goederen => stijgen van gebruik GS + vergroting getransporteerde
volumes
 Er was een andere infrastructuur nodig om dit te realiseren (kanalen, rivieren rechttrekken…)
 Ontstaan van (massa)productie
2) Gevolgen voor demografie
 Werkgelegenheid ontstond vooral in de steden => plattelandsvlucht + explosieve groei steden
 Revolutie in landbouw: meer grootschaligheid => verhoogde voedselproductie
 Aantal mensen steeg jaar na jaar
1.2 Milieuproblemen: concreet
Bodem - Verontreiniging door aardolie, zware metalen, chemicaliën…
- Overbemesting (mest-actie-plan)
- Verzuring (t.g.v. zure regen)
- Bodemerosie (verlies van landbouwgrond…)
Lucht - Zomersmog (te veel aan ozon in lucht => astmatische symptomen)
- Wintersmog (t.g.v. zwaveluitstoot door verbrandingsprocessen)
- Fijn stof problematiek (oosterweelverbinding)
- Gat in ozonlaag
Water - Grondwaterstanden dalen (gevolgen voor fauna en landbouw)
- Verontreiniging met plastic
Problemen die de - Klimaatverandering (opwarming aarde)
biosferen overstijgen - Ontstaan genetisch gemanipuleerde organismen (veranderen fauna)
- Nucleaire verontreiniging (Tsjernobyl, Fukushima, Doel…)
- Vrelies van biodiversiteit
Lokale problemen leiden tot effecten op grotere schaal (soms zelfs globaal).
 Milieuproblemen hebben dus een sociaal en economisch component
1.3 Ecologische voetafdruk
Parameter waarbij consumptie teruggerekend wordt tot een oppervlakte die gebruikt is om de
consumptiegoederen te kunnen produceren.
- Er wordt rekening gehouden met technologische ontwikkelingen
- Opp. die voorhanden is wordt ingedeeld in 6 categorieën:
- Akkerland (productie plantaardige GS) - Bebouwde grond (woning, infrastructuur)
- Weiland (productie vee) - Opp. nodig om energieverbruik te
- Bossen (productie hout) compenseren (dus uitgestoten CO2 te
- Visgronden (waar vis gevangen wordt) capteren)
Natuurlijk is de te gebruiken opp. beperkt (aarde is niet oneindig).
