QUESTION 1


The four types of business-to-business customers that Trendy Paints can approach for the
paint products are;

(i) The government- government is the biggest customer in business-to-business marketing.
It serves the population of the country, which makes it the biggest buyer. Trendy paints can
approach the government or applied for tenders to supply them with paint. With new schools
being built, roads being constructed, and buildings being renovated, trendy paints can be the
biggest supplies on paint to the government so that they deliver public service to the people.

(ii) Institutions- institutions are mostly non-governmental organizations. They are primary
goal is to serve the people; they are not chasing profits therefore trendy paints can approach
them to do business with them. Trendy paints must have different pricing for their customers
as institutions look to purchase products at a lower value as they are not profit driven

(iii) Resellers- these are large businesses which by goods and services from other
businesses for resell. They usually buy in bulk and resell at at profit. Trendy paints can
approach Makro for example and cut a deal to be their supplier of paints.

(iv)Producers- Producers most deal with raw materials, they transform raw materials into
semi-finished or finished product. Trendy paints can approach them and ask for input
resources to produce their paints.

Tangible brand elements that it Trendy paints should consider when branding its paint
products are;

(i) Brand name- it represents the brand name of the product a company is offering
on Markert. The brand name is identity of the business, Trendy paints should
include letters which customers can easily read, because they sell paint, I would
suggest their brand name to be colourful to grab the attention of the customers
and people on the road passing. Trendy paints brand name should be unique and
easily identified.
(ii) Logo and symbols- logo is a symbol which have a specific design that a
business use. Trendy paints can add a paintbrush as a symbol on their products
(iii) Packing- Packaging and how product is packed is very important to a business,
it is used to visualise the products a business is selling. Trendy paints, for
example they can’t package their paints on glass containers, to only makes
sense to package on plastic containers instead.
(iv) Slogans- slogans are the voice of the brands, they sense a message the the
business is about, for example trendy paints can use, Trendy paints, “lets colour
the world” as their slogan
(v) Character or Mascot- many companies use mascots to advertise their business;
we see them on TV and of traffic lights. The are animated objects like cartoons
characters, trendy paints can have their own mascot, I would suggest a large
drum of paint with roller brushes as hands
(vi) Uniform resource locators- this is a link trendy paints can create which will take
customers to a source of information about their business and their products. It’s
an internet resource for example www.trendypaint.co.za
(vii) Jingles- like jingle bells, jiggles are audio sound of the business. Trendy paints
can use, “HEY, HEY HEY, Let’s get painting” as leir jiggle
(viii) Spokespeople- spoke people are representative of the company, they are use to
communicate the businesses messages to the customers. Trendy paints can get
stokehole to their brand representative.
