HOSA EMT- Patient Assessment
Trauma
1. Practice body substance isolation - Answer-Make sure to isolate all bodily fluids.
2. Scene Size up - Answer-a. Determine that the scene is safe
b. MOI/NOI
c. # of patients
d. Request additional resources if necessary
3. Check for trauma - Answer-If trauma is suspected simulate/verbalize "holding C-Spine".
4. Primary Assessment - Answer-a. Verbalizes the general impression of the patient
b. Determine the LOC/Responsiveness of the patient.
c. Determine the chief complaint and locate any life threats.
5. Airway - Answer-a. Open and assess the airway
b. Insert adjuncts if needed
6. Breathing - Answer-a. Assess breathing
b. Make sure that he is ventilating
c. Initiate proper oxygenation
d. Manage any injury that may prevent breathing/ventilation
