ASSIGNMENT 7 (PORTFOLIO)
DUE 17 October 2025
TASK 1: SELF-MANAGEMENT AND SELF-DEVELOPMENT
1. Description of Experience
The 2025 academic year in CAS3701 was both demanding and fulfilling. This module
required ongoing participation in webinars, completion of individual and collaborative
activities, and the development of a final portfolio—all of which tested my ability to plan
effectively and manage my time. At the beginning, I found it challenging to balance the
workload of CAS3701 with other modules and personal responsibilities. This often led to
stress and completing tasks at the last minute. Over time, I began adopting strategies to
organise my studies, set priorities, and meet deadlines more efficiently. I designed a
weekly study timetable that dedicated specific hours to CAS3701 activities, allowing me
to manage both my individual and group duties successfully. These experiences played
a vital role in enhancing my learning and improving my sense of accountability.
2. Feelings
Initially, I experienced feelings of anxiety and uncertainty due to the heavy workload and
fear of missing deadlines. Participating in group tasks and preparing the portfolio was
intimidating at first, and I often doubted my ability to keep up. However, after applying
consistent study and time-management strategies, my confidence steadily improved. I
began to feel more motivated, especially when I managed to submit my work early and
contribute meaningfully in group sessions. These positive emotions strengthened my
discipline and encouraged me to seek help and maintain consistency in my academic
routine.
, 3. Evaluation
Several aspects of my performance went well. I maintained regular communication with
my group, met all submission deadlines, and actively participated in webinars, which
deepened my understanding of the content. However, I did experience periods of stress,
especially when juggling multiple tasks, and sometimes underestimated the time
required for portfolio activities. Creating a structured weekly plan helped me distribute
my workload effectively, while techniques such as short breaks, light exercise, and
mindfulness improved my stress levels. Overall, my goal-setting, time management, and
ability to stay composed under pressure developed significantly throughout the
semester, though I recognise the importance of refining these skills further during high-
demand periods.
4. Analysis (SMART Goal Setting)
To strengthen my self-management, I formulated the following SMART goal:
• Specific: Submit every CAS3701 task at least two days before its due date.
• Measurable: Record submission dates in a digital planner.
• Achievable: Allocate two hours each day for CAS3701 tasks and an additional
hour on weekends.
• Relevant: Early submissions lower stress and enhance the quality of work.
• Time-bound: Maintain this routine for the entire semester.
Implementing this goal allowed me to meet all deadlines on time and work with greater
focus. The SMART method helped structure my progress and stay accountable (Doran,
1981). I also applied Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle, which enabled me to assess my progress
and adjust my strategies where necessary (Gibbs, 1988).
5. Analysis of Growth
