QUESTION 1:
1.1 List and briefly describe the guidelines for presenting a prepared short
speech. (10)
-Plan and structure – Organise the speech with a clear introduction, body, and
conclusion so the message flows well.
-Know the audience – Use words and examples that fit the age, interest, and
background of the listeners.
-Be clear and simple – Use short sentences and simple language to make ideas
easy to follow.
-Use eye contact – Look at the audience to keep their attention and show
confidence.
-Use voice effectively – Speak loudly enough, with clear pronunciation and
correct pauses.
-Control pace and tone – Avoid speaking too fast or too slow; vary tone to
keep interest.
-Use body language – Stand straight, use natural gestures, and avoid
distracting movements.
-Use visual aids if needed – Pictures or props can support understanding but
should not take over the speech.
-Practise – Rehearse the speech to gain confidence and reduce nervousness.
-Keep to time – Respect the time limit and avoid unnecessary repetition.
According to Langan (2018), good speech delivery needs clear structure,
audience awareness, and practice to improve confidence and communication.

-What is the main message you want the audience to remember?
-What interesting facts or examples will you include?

-What words or phrases will help you connect ideas clearly?
-How will you make sure your speech is easy to understand?
-What questions might the audience ask you after your speech?
