, Part A: A review of research skills
From the beginning of the project until the end, I have worked on the research, data collection, data
analysis and visual which help to provide the background and answers for the two sub questions “What
is Vadain’s footprint in 2019, focused on scope 1 and 2?” “What options does Vadain have for reducing
CO2 footprint?”

My sub questions I have been working on (self-research) from beginning the project to midterm:

1. What is a footprint and why is it important?
2. What scope should the company focus?
3. What theoretical framework is useful for the project?
4. What data/tool is needed to measure the footprint of a company, based on the scope 1 and 2?
5. In which ways the data could be collected?

Working on Theory +Results after the midterm:

1. What type of data/ data source should the group focus (statistics)for getting the results?
2. What is data analysis? (Quantitative methodology)
3. How to conduct data analysis activities which applied to project?
4. Which tool to be considered to analyze the Vadain data (Excel, SPSS, Python) after data collection?
5. How to describe data visually?
6. How to apply the data into the two tools (University of Groningen and Barometers)?
7. How can Vadain reduce their CO2 footprint? (CO2 resolutions)
8. What are the main conclusions of the analysis parts? (CO2, LCA and sub question 3)?
9. What are the recommendations for the company related to sub questions 3?

After the mid-term, I have been working on the data inputs for the tool and contribute to the group
work (mid-term report and final report) writing those parts: Introduction, Footprint analysis (definition,
scope), CO2 Resolutions, the Conclusion for the project and Recommendations related to ways to
reduce the Carbon footprint. Together with creating the format for the final reports and Group JORA.
The last questions’ answers could be clearly found in the final reports or explanation in the Group JORA
which have been done by my inputs in the end.

1. Research Approach

For this project, the inductive approach will be used since it does not involve formulation of hypotheses.
It starts with main research questions and the aims as well as the objectives will need to be achieved
during the research process. The reason why I chose this approach is to begin with collecting information
or data to explore a phenomenon and then generate the theory or often in the form of a conceptual
framework. The second reason is that this approach tends to work well with qualitative and quantitative
data methodologies which I will use later for this project. This approach enables various methods of data
collection in order to gain the final result of the phenomena. According to Mark, Philip and Adrian (2019),
the logic of induction approach is that known premises are used to generate from the specific to the
