WGU D372 Task 1 Case Study: Financial Challenges of Wilde’s
Bramble with Complete Solution | 2025-2026 Update

D372 Task 1 – Case Study 1

1. Events:
a. The Wildes started an organic food business venture on land provided to them by their parents.
b. Selling their food products at farmers’ markets, they became known for the high quality of their
merchandise.
c. Local retailers and restaurants then began purchasing and reselling Wilde’s Bramble products as
well, causing a noticeable jump in sales.
d. Due to increased production demand, the couple decided to use some of their savings to lease
extra farmland.
e. As their business grew, they experienced increasing financial pressures and began using credit
cards to pay for expenses, accumulating payments, and mounting financial charges.
f. To help defray the cash flow problems, Calla found a job outside the farm.
g. The debt from the mortgage and the credit cards began to overwhelm the Wildes.

2. Patterns/Trends:
a. High-quality products translate to an increase in sales and customer base.
b. When Wilde’s Bramble’s customer base and production demand increased, forcing the business
to “scale up”, or in other words, grow quickly, it increased the demand for more land and
equipment/tools.
c. The demand for more land and equipment in order to keep up with increased production
required using credit cards to pay for expenses and taking out a mortgage on the farm to help
when the financial charges were piling up.

3. Organizational Structure:
a. Alder and Calla Wilde opened Wilde's Bramble, an organic food company on the farmland that
their parents gave them.
b. At first, their products were popular at farmers' markets; later the Wildes expanded the
offerings to several local shops and eateries.
c. Wilde's Bramble relies on land, equipment, a power source, and a dedicated barn to produce its
goods.
d. The business’s financial framework of the operation includes: using credit cards, a mortgage,
and additional income through outside employment.

4. BOT Graph: Graph #2
This graph accurately represents the business’s financial situation in Case Study #1, Wilde’s Brambles.
