Assessment 02
QUESTION 1
The following employment relations areas were facing issues:
People
Employees misunderstanding one another, cultural clashes and personality clashes
can lead to challenges when it comes to communication styles.
Resources
Not offering training and development opportunities for employees can lead to low
morale.
Operations
If an organization do not have clear policies and procedures in place, it can lead to
employees being unhappy because of conflicting priorities.
After gathering feedback from the faculty members from a need analysis, I would make
the following suggestions on the above employment relations issues:
I will assist in providing soft skills training on communication techniques and conflict
management. I can also assist in facilitating training on how to manage conflict within
an organisation. Included in this I can advise on negotiation techniques and tactics
which can help faculty members to voice their feelings.
Furthermore, with the information gathered, I would make a suggestion on other fields
of training and developmental possibilities for the faculty member interested in
professional development.
With the clear shortfall in policies and procedures, I will advise faculty heads on where
procedures and policies need to be put in place to stop the tension that exists from
conflict of priorities. If every faculty member has clear instructions on their priorities, it
will also help alleviate the low morale.
Question 2
The Human Resource Management approach
This approach best addresses internal factors affecting employment relations because
it focuses on people management, organizational efficiency, and innovation. It focuses
on strategically managing employees to align with business goals, ensuring that the
internal factors influencing employment relations are effectively managed.
